How many images can be fit on a 1GB flash shot @ 8MP?
I'm buying a Canon Rebel XT, and it comes with a Lexar 1GB 80x flash card. How many pictures shot at the XT's 8MP can fit on this card, so I can decide whether to pick another one up?

I use a 1 gig flash card with my 8 MP Pro1 at the "large/Superfine" jpg setting and get 300 shots. For RAW shooting, about 145.

The number of shots is not fixed. Different ISOs, different parameter settings, different levels of noise, the degree of detail in the shots all create different sized images. Your camera will recalculate the average number of shots left after it writes the current image.

Oh yeah, I forgot to mention that part. The higher the ISO, the fewer shots you'll have available. Higher ISO means larger file sizes though I don't know why. There is a big difference between ISO 100 and 1600 in re: the number of shots I can get on a flash card.

From what I understand, the added noise of the higher ISO takes up more space and is harder to compress.
