    Breast Cancer Signs and Symptoms

Symptoms of breast cancer: Knowing how your breasts normally look and feel is an important part of your breast health. Although having regular screening tests for breast cancer is important, mammograms do not find every breast cancer. This means it's also important for you to know what your breasts normally look and feel like, so you’ll be aware of any changes in your breasts. The most common symptom of breast cancer is a new lump or mass (although most breast lumps are not cancer). A painless, hard mass that has irregular edges is more likely to be cancer, but breast cancers can be also soft, round, tender, or even painful.

Many of these symptoms can also be caused by benign (non-cancerous) breast conditions. Still, it’s important to have any new breast mass, lump, or other change checked by an experienced healthcare professional so the cause can be found and treated if needed. Remember that knowing what to look for does not take the place of having regular screening for breast cancer. Screening mammography can often help find breast cancer early before any symptoms appear. Finding breast cancer early gives you a better chance of successful treatment.

This is a really important aspect of our health that often goes unnoticed until it's too late. Although I am not a medical expert, I have learned that self-awareness is key. Regular self-examinations will help you become familiar with your breast tissue, making it easier to detect any changes. Look for lumps, changes in breast size or shape, dimples in the skin, nipple eversion, or unusual discharge. Remember that not all changes mean cancer, but be sure to see your doctor if you notice anything unusual.

While self-checks can be helpful, they can lead to unnecessary anxiety. That's why it's critical to supplement self-awareness with regular mammograms, especially if you have risk factors such as a family history of breast cancer, age, hormone replacement therapy, or certain genetic mutations.
Regarding the treatment of breast cancer, I recently came across an innovative approach that you may be interested in. There is a 2dg lab that is working on a new cancer treatment strategy. They are investigating the use of 2-deoxy-D-glucose, a glucose analogue, to influence the metabolism of glucose by cancer cells. This approach essentially deprives cancer cells of their energy source.
Remember that early detection increases the chances of successful treatment. For other factors, maintaining a healthy lifestyle, including regular exercise, a balanced diet, and limiting alcohol consumption, can also help reduce risk.
