How do you add raw plug in updates to existing lightroom softyware?

Adobe are slow on the draw with support......left in voice mail hell forever....does anyone know the step by step process to update your lightroom software raw plug in updates on your computer. I have a Cannon G10 but lightroom and photoshop are not reading the raw images. Thanks for any help offered^..^ Oh have downloaded the updates from adobe but now how do I get them to the right place?
