Hello,

New user here.Hello everyone,
New here. I am going to South America in about three weeks and am wanting to replace my Canon A95 with something newer that has image stabalization, larger screen etc. Now I'm no professional and the A95 has been an ok camera but want to upgrade to something a little newer.
Here are 4 models that I think fit me but I'm just not sure and would like some opinions. I have read so much on them that I'm now more confused.
Sony DSC-W90
Canon Powershot A570 IS
Nikon Coolpix P5000
Panasonic Lumix DMC-FX12 or TZ3

One of the cool things that I noticed about the Sony was the fact that I could hook it up directly to my HDTV which I have. I didnt see that on the other cameras. Is there any particular on you all would recommend based on quality, battery life, eetc mor than anything??? I'm dont know to much about the various manual control, but like that fact that they are there and I can learn some.
What I do like to do is take close ups, action photos so thats a must, and even small movies. Now as for the Canon and the Nikon. The Nikon I believe has both a higher ISO capability and a farther flash range. This seems like it would be good in my case since I do take photos in the evening, closeups, and inside etc and both have manual controls. The nikon seems to have another advantage since I can also add an external flash or additional lense if I decided.

One thing I am not sure of is the battery though. MY A95 takes 4 NiMH AA's, and the Nikon takes some weird looking flat battery. I'm guessing I could just buy an extra battery like I did with the A95 to have an extra set on store. The canon a570IS only takes two AA's. Geeze I just dont know. They both look like great cameras. Something I and my wife could use.

Pleaes any suggestions. Im leaning towards the Nikon now.
