holga of the digital world?
So I have this problem. I started doing Americorps which is great for personal growth, but bad for supporting a ravenous film habit, and besides that, there's no place in Gallup, NM, my new abode, to do my own darkroom work. As a result, I'm looking to leave my Mamiya in the closet for now and move into the world of digital photography. However, budget constrictions plus a real love of the low res aesthetic has led me here in search of advice as to what digital camera is comparable to a Holga (of which i own a few) in terms of aesthetic, price, a reliable shutter and unreliable quality. Under 20 bucks would be great, 10 bucks even better. There's gotta be something out there like that, right?

If you want cheap crap that cost between 50 bucks and nothing then This is the brand for you.
Re: holga of the digital world?
Two suggestions:
Camera Phone: Very low res, almost looks like Holga shots right from the camera (most I've seen, anyway ;) ).
Photoshop: Starting with a "clean" file and a little time, you could get this type of effect.
Re: Then you want this.....
Dude Brain that looks like a phun lil' piece of trash!
I want one!
Re: holga of the digital world?
any thoughts on the whole pencam thing? i guess the secondary thing which i've considered in this quest for the most ghetto of ghetto digital cams is discreteness. has anyone had a chance to try out a pencam and if so, how do they compare to these other cameras you've suggested? i really appreciate all this input, it's good to know there are a variety of low res options to choose from...

Do any of the "pencams" have memory cards??
If you are a shooting bee, then I would amke sure you can use a mem card, the biggest you and the camera can handle.
My daughter had a Jamcam last year. Neat little thing, comes in neat colors too, and it had a mem card too, but it failed in the first 3 months of having it and it did not transfer pics reliably.

We bought something similar for my oldest when she turned 4. Worked great for a month or two, died, we exchanged it, the new one died in a month or two, and we gave up on that.
We have an older sony digital that the kids use now, courtesy of Mr. Hess.
