Help on Shutter speed on Canon SD890 IS?
How do I read the shutter speed specs?

    SD890 IS list it as:
1/60-1/1600 sec., 15-1/1500 sec.; Long Shutter operates with noise reduction when manually set at 1.3-15 sec.

The SD1000 had too slow shutter speed.... I'm hoping this one has faster shutter speed.

    Help please!

The Canon SD890 has a shutter speed range from 1/60-1600 sec and 15-1/1500 sec. The SD1000's fastest speed is 1/1500. Almost the same as the 890. I am not sure what you need such a fast time for. I rarely ever go that high. What are you shooting?

I don't think the slow shutter speed is due to which camera you use.
It's due to the lack of light, and the not-very-wide lens that doesn't let in much light.
I don't think the 890 to 1000 would make much difference.

I agree with Greg, what are you taking photos of, and can you post a sample?
