Help in selecting camera for Artwork

Can anyone suggest a camera for taking pictures of fabric collage? It's several layers of farbic embellished with beads and other objects. The fabrics are usually silks or other shiny fabrics. My Gateway 5 megapixel is ok for general pictures but just doesn't do it for this. There's lots of shadows and the pieces are never flat with the stitching all. I need the pictures for my website (learning how to do that too) and to submit for publication. I can afford between $300-$500.
