Hey there everybody!

As you will probably notice from my post count, this is my first post. If I am posting in the wrong forum, missed another topic practically identical to this one, or doing something else stupid please feel free to point out my mistakes!

Anyway, for the last couple of days I have been looking at point-and-shoot waterproof cameras. The Canon Powershot D10 is the one that first caught my attention. I rather like its original design and the face recognition surprised me.

My biggest problem with it is the zoom. My current camera (Canon Powershot A610), which is two or three years old, has 4X optical zoom whereas the D10 only has 3X. But, I convinced myself the high resolution (12.1 Mega Pixels) would make it easy to crop images (or use digital zoom) without loosing much quality.

The next thing that bothers me is the weird form factor. I like it's original design - it stands out among other cameras and its unique add-on system is also intriguing. However, I am afraid that it may be too big and bulky to be practical. Other waterproof digital cameras, such as those offerd by Olympus seem to be more compact and would probably fit in one's pocket.

Since the Canon Powershot D10 is yet to be released, nobody can know for sure how it compares but I thought I'd see what others think about it verses other cameras in this field. I am a little afraid to venture out and try offerings from other manufacturers since all my previous digital cameras were Canons and I never had any problems with them. But perhaps I should try an Olympus instead. They have better overall specs and I like their compact form.

As a quick run down of what I want:

Type: Waterproof & Durable Point and Shoot Digital Cameras

Price Range: $300-400 USD

Manufacturer: Preferably more some of the more well-known ones but anybody will do

Purpose: General every-day photography with some under water shots as well. I would prefer to be able to change variables such as the shutter speed, aperture value, ISO speed, etc but is not 100% necessary.

Thank you very much for taking the time to read my post. I look forward to becoming a part of the Photography Review community! If you need any additional information, please let me know.

Thanks again,
