help a noob out...

HI guys

this is my first post but [hopefully] not my last

I've had a sony digital camera for a few years now but its starting to show its age and its more of a "family" camera

I've been looking to buy a camera setup and my current budget is around 600 dollars, but this may change depending on how much my parents want to chip in

I want to mainly shoot outdoorsy, urban environments but nothing OMFGBBQ panoramic or anything and occasionally people.
