Help getting a new digital camera.

Hello everyone.

I am thinking of getting a new digital camera this coming Christmas. I am not a serious photographer; nevertheless, I want a camera that delivers clear, quality photos to use in my blog. I'm not thinking of any DSLRs, since I plan on spending only about $250-350. I don't really care about camera size or design.

I am currently considering:
Canon PowerShot SD700 IS
Canon PowerShot S3 IS

I am leaning towards the S3 as of this moment.

I would greatly appreciate some advice and suggestions.

The Canon S3 IS reviews are mostly good and it seems like alot of technology for the price. I've seen them listed for around $400. at Best Buy and Circuit City.I'm close to getting one myself, as soon as I talk myself out of a DSLR.

I bought the S3 IS last July, and I highly recommend it for a "Point-and-Shoot" type of camera. It has terrific automatic modes, making it superb for novices, and yet offers a broad range of manual control, when desired. The only potential drawback, is that it does not have an optical viewfinder, only an EVF (besides the LCD display, that is) so, it can be difficult to see through in very bright light, but I have always been able to use it satisfactorily. Even casual phoptgraphers like me can take amazingly good pictures with it.
