Need digital camera neck strap & holder

I have a relatively small digital camera (Panasonic dmc tz1) and would like to carry it on a neck strap but also sit horizontal on my chest (like my old SLRs did) . Does any one know of any thing I could use; Im thinking something like a horizontal bracket that attaches to the tripod socket with two verticals up the side of the camera with clip rings on them attaching to any standard neck strap. I just think the camera would feel more accessable and comfortable hanging horizontal! Any ideas? I'd appreciate any help.

I had similar problems.
My G9 filled up with dust within a year carried in my pocket.
And it's just not as ready in most cases as hanging on a neck strap.
Though it is less obtrusive stuffed in a pocket for candid shots.
