FZ20 vs. Z5, possible others?

I have my heart set on the Panasonic DMC-FZ20 but cost is persuading me towards the Minolta DiMage Z5, Unless someone can recommend a comparable sub-$500 5mpx or greater, SLR-like cam, what is everyones' opinions between the two???

Just got the FZ20 I love it. Its a bit bulky but thats because of the great lens.
Pics at x 12 are amazing even hand held by a shaky old 65 yr old like me the OIS is good.
Its early days but this camera looks good.
It pays to read the manual before using. However you get very good results just using the automatic P mode
