    Choosing a camera

Hello all, I'm looking to buy my first camera. I'll mostly be using it take pictures of places I go so mainly scenery/buildings pics, so mainly point and shoot.. I'll be uploading my pictures to the web, sending them in emails and printing them. I've been looking at the Nikon 4100 and Canon s410 and they both seem pretty good. Is there a big difference between the two? Are there any other cameras I should consider?

if thats what you want, point and shoot,or if you like taking picts, consider a dslr.canon w/lense under a grand.but both of the nikons you talked about are great cameras also.i shoot a nikon d70,and like it a bunch.1299.99 with a wide angle lense.finance that baby for a couple years interest free and buy you a whole lotta camera.the nikon is great, hard to beat.

Both of these cameras are good. I would lean towards the Canon S410 because I have the S400 which has proven itself to be excellent.

IMHO, a DSLR would be expensive overkill for you. You can always get one later on if you really think you need it. More than likely, these P&S will serve you well.

    Hi Naruto,

I think that both of those cameras are good choices. One thing that you might consider is a camera that can accept a wide angle adaptor, which I know the S410 does not and believe that the Nikon doesn't either.

The Canon G series and A series (or a least the A80) can accept a wide angle adaptor. This would be helpful if you like a wide angle perspective in your pictures of scenery/buildings. Do be aware that these adaptors will not give you the image quality of your in-camera lens alone, but are capable of giving very good images. You would have probably have some distortion of straight lines, but in would be helpful in many scenics and interiors. I have an Canon A80 and love it, but miss the smaller size of my older digital Elph, so that is a trade off.

    Good luck!
