Fujifilm & Panasonic's New Organic Sensor

Fujifilm and Panasonic just announced a new "organic" imaging sensor they say doubles the dynamic range of what's available now. This is very exciting since it means seriously improved low light performance and better color rendition. Read about the new sensor, here:

The question now is - how soon will we see the new sensor and what kind of camera will it appear in first. What do you think?

I wanted to give this one a bump. I'm surprised there wasn't any discussion on the new sensor announcement. I think this is a really big deal.

I think it's exciting. I like nice small cameras and it seems this could be a big boost for that niche. m43 and similar systems could be more competitive with bigger systems.
I've been holding out on getting a small interchangeable lens camera, but a big breakthrough like this could be what makes me take the plunge.

I don't think we should necessarily limit it to just smaller cameras. The Fujifilm X-Series mirrorless cameras have APS-C sensors. Pentax and Nikon have both buying APS-C sensors from Sony. So it's possible this sensor technology is something we could end up seeing in DSLRs as well as mirrorless cameras. It will also put pressure on Canon and Sony to improve their own sensors. So we all win in the end.

I am thinking it would be in the X series and the G series. I wonder if Olympus feels this will leave them behind the eight ball again going to a Sony sensor.
The OMD E-M5 is a wonderful camera but I think the sensor is very similar to the NEX5 which is dated compared to what's out there now.

I think they(Panasonic and Fujifilm) have made ahead another step in the world of photography and made Nikon think again about the cameras they have made.
From this one thing is clear that it is very hard to stay at the top always.
