Flash blinds me
Problem: Ok i like taking pictures but usually flashes make me close my eyes or squint.
Details: i take good pictures without the flash but when flash is on i usualy squint or close my eyes completely.
Conclusion: How can i remedy this . Is there a trick to not close my eyes when the camera flashes or is it something i just have to deal with.

Re: Flash blinds me
Welcome to the forum Meanswing. You're taking pictures and closing your eyes when using flash? I hate bright lights in my eyes, but being behind the camera when the flash goes off has never bothered me. My guess is the you're moving the camera a bit when you close your eyes. You could try using a tripod to hold the camera in place, that way when you squint, or close your eyes, you don't move the camera. Or maybe an easier solution would be to wear sun glasses when using flash. Just some thoughts.

Welcome to the forum and happy picture taking
If your the one operating the camera, then unless I am missing something, at that point the flash goes off it really wouldn't matter whether you closed your eyes or not.
Now if on the other hand you are the subject of the picture I would suggest not looking straight at the camera and flash but look maybe at about a 30 degree angle to the left or right of the camera and flash.
Another option if you are the one with the camera in your hands would be to make sure you have the camera pointed in the right direction! LOL

Re: Flash blinds me
thx guys for the warm welcome. sorry i didnt make this clearer but when i take the picture the flash doesnt bother me. its only when a picture is taken of me with the flash on. I usualy close my eyes when the flash goes off. i would say 60 percent of the time. the 30 degree angle helped. if any other suggestions i would appreciate them.

Re: Flash blinds me
The flash is a brief but powerful light, and is normal to close your eyes when someone takes you a picture at close range.
If you feel it has any to do with your eyesight, just visit your eye doctor and ask him.

Re: Flash blinds me
I had a quick remedy for this, for when my twins were babies.. I put a piece of facial tissue over the flash, it dulls it.. Just enough for the flash not to hurt eyes as much, but still gives you a good flash exposure pic... (i used to "attatch" it, with a rubber band.. around the flash, a thin, single layer tissue was more than enough)
