    D70 Lens Compatability
    I have a Nikon N80 with a Nikkor AF 28-105mm 3.5 - 4.5 D lens. Will that lens work on a D70? I also have a Tamron AF 28-200mm 3.8 - 5.6 D lens that fits this camera. Will that also work on a D70, or will I have to purchase a lens for the D70 body? Trying to figure out just what I am getting into if I buy a D70 body. Comments?

    The lenses that you mentioned will work on the D70 and pretty much all Nikon AF and 3rd party Nikon AF mount lenses. Manual Nikon AI/AI-S will mount but the meter will be unusable.
    Since the sensor is about the size of an APS, it is smaller than a 35mm. This makes the effective length of the lens 1.5x. It is not a magnification but a cropping factor. ( Imagine masking off portions of the top, bottom and sides to show a smaller image, thus 'cropping' the image). So your 28-105 lens becomes a 42-157.5mm zoom. Perspective stays the same 28-105mm. Nikon has a line of lenses called 'DX' that are specifically designed for their D-SLRs and cannot be used on 35mm SLR's.
    For telephoto users, the cropping factor is paradise but for wide angle users, it is an irritant. In short, multiply the focal length by 1.5 to get the effective length of the lens with your D70.
