Re: Cant connect my Sigma SD9 to my computer.

The camera should come up as a normal drive. If not I know on my Nikon cameras I need to change the storage mode from Mass storage (I think thats the name) to PTP mode.

I'd check your manual, or download it from Sigma's website which will further explain how to set it up

Re: Cant connect my Sigma SD9 to my computer.

First you need to have the driver from Sigma installed. You'll need the software package/driver from Sigma.

You may wish to read Sigma .PDF file SPP2_Manual_eng.PDF for further details. It is the manual for the Sigma Photo Pro ver 2.x software.

If you have already installed the Photo Pro software, the driver has also be loaded.

DO NOT connect the camera via both cables at the same time.

Camera connected will be displayed in a box along with number of files on the Compact Flash card.

Sigma Photo Pro will auto-launch when the camera is connected via either USB or Firewire unless the box has been 'unchecked'. If so, start Sigma Photo Pro, select Camera from the main window, and a dialog box will appear to load images to your computer. There will be various options including source (select or all files) destination and options to delete from CF card or not upon transfer.

I would strongly suggest getting an external card reader to use with a USB 2.0 connection, The camera does not support 2.0 and is slow in camera-to-computer transfers. Firewire is an acceptable unless you run into a compatibility issue.

Should you be doing this with a notebook with limited ports and need to resort to firewire, be sure to have fresh batteries in the camera, or use the A.C. Adapter. A CF card of any size can take many many minutes. It is partially the software and camera, and not entirely the connection.

Let me know how this works for you. PM me or email me if you have other questions and I'll point you in the right direction.

The new version of Photo Pro has some additional features, but is slower on older hardware among other things. Having both a SPP 2.1 and SPP 3.0 may be an alternative. Adobe Photoshop products including ACR in the various supported Photoshop produces and the similar implementation in Adobe Lightroom do a good job converting the X3F files though you may want very quickly to build a custom profile.

Best of luck and looking forward to seeing more Sigma Photos.
