Compact Camera Advice - pls help

Hi all

would love to pick some brains - I live in Australia some place so not much choice on the camera front - had my Canon IXUS500 for a few years and dropped it so now need to replace it. Was going to get the Canon IXUS800 but have had some problems with losing data and having to reformat my camera and have heard other people complaining so was looking to change brands.... (big step.....!!??!!)

1) want the camera for
Movie modes - have a small baby and want to take short viedos
Photos of baby moving (would like a faster falsh thingy....) - like I click to take the photo and by the time it shoots my little one is way gone!
Photos are usually left on computer and we only really print a few off we like for frames
