    choice of lens
    hello

i have just purchased the canon 20d and am looking to invest in a couple of lenses.

I will be using my camera mainly for architecture and sport, football, tennis and athletics.

what would be the best options?

for a wide lens will there be any blur/ distortion on the edges?

    thanks

ps: my budget is £200ish for 1 lens

That gives you roughly $375.00 us....lets see....

Not the best lenes in the world, but for your budget they are the best bargin, and for your need they will do ok.

They are pretty much the lenses that I use myself except that I have an actual canon 28-80 and my 70-300 is a quantaray, but it was made by sigma anyway. They arn't pro glass, but they handel pretty good. I used a sigma 28-135 on my Maxxum7 and it was supurb. It was pretty much as sharp as pro glass. I was very surprised. I only dropped $139.99 on that one.

With super wide stuff there will always be some level of distortion, but you don't have the scratch to buy that kinda glass if 200 pounds is all you got to spend. I don't mean to be rude but those lenses cost upwards of 800-1000 us. Not cheap. 28mm will get you roughly a 45mm field of view, with a 20D and that isn't a wide angel, more like mid range. You would have to drop down to 18mm to get even close to 28, and if you wanna get beyond that you will have to pony up some serious stone.

    Good luck...;)
