    Canon PowerShot SX1 or SX10
Hi all.. I'm interested in learning photography and is an ameteur photographer. I was previously deciding between dSLR and 'semi pro' type of camera.

After using my friend's dSLR (Canon 20D with EFS 18-55mm lens and EF 135mm L Lens), i've given up the thought of getting dSLR. It is too cumbersome to keep changing lens and is pretty tiring for me to carry them whole day long. Therefore, i thought i should purchase a semipro digital camera instead-- Either Canon Powershot SX1 or SX10...

I did some research on both:

SX1 Pro: CMOS, HD video, Raw Image Format. Cons: 'Jello Effect' on HD video, Lower quality image on low ISO
SX10 Pro: Lower Price, Image quality is better on low ISO

I personally tested both cameras at the store and indeed SX10's is much more clearer than SX1's. Note: i'm a ameteur and not familiar with Canon camera's function.

I would appreciate if someone could provide some advise here? Thanks....:)

If I were you, I would go for the SX10 with the following reasons.
    1. I don't think using CMOS or CCD yields much different image quality.
    2. RAW format is good, and you can use a CHDK firmware to enable RAW format capture in SX10. Try this link. http://chdk.wikia.com/wiki/CHDK (use at your own risk).
    3. I don't want Full HD movie recording. If I want some, I will get a camcorder.
    4. The SX10 is cheaper.

    Good luck shopping!

According to me, SX10 is really better than SX1. Canon cameras are really good. Try it out.
