    Canon Ixus 500 (s500)
    Hi everyone, i am new here

    I have just brought a canon ixus 500 aka s500

    I am having problems connecting it to my laptop to download the pictures.

    I have installed all the software, but the carera is not being detected by XP home.

    I have had no problems with my desktop pc which runs xp pro..

    I have uninstalled and reinstalled the drivers again, but with no luck.

    My laptop is a toshiba 2450-s203 P4 2.8, 40 GB, 256 ram

    Some one suggested that it could be the usb ports, but i have other hardware installed which work on all three ports.

    Please could some one help me.

    Spend $20-$30 on a card reader. The quality of camera drivers vary all over the place. You'll be much happier with the card reader than downloading directly from the camera.

    I suggest you uninstall all the supplied software and see if XP recognizes it that way.
