Broken camera. Need help to fix.
My sister recently gave me her old broken camera after purchasing a new one. She told me if I could fix it, then I can have it. So I was wondering if anyone could help me fix this camera. The camera is a Panasonic Lumix DMC-FX9. The problem is that the screen is pretty much black when turned on. But I just found out that if you angle it just right, you can see the picture. You can still take pictures/view pictures so I guess the internals are all fine. So I am assuming the backlight behind the screen in the camera is broken? Is there any way to fix this? Thanks in advance!

If this camera has an optical viewfinder, I wouldn't worry about it. I have a Panasonic and never use my LCD screen. It's much easier to take pictures with the optical viewfinder, due to being able to hold it steadier while pressed against your forehead.

Sorry, I know this wasn't the kind of answer you were looking for, but If everything else works, you got a good free camera. Generally, sending these types of cameras in for repair would cost you darned near as much, if not more, than buying a new one.

You may be able to find one with a working backlight on it on ebay for pretty cheap. To me it sounds like the backlight went. If the screen shows stuff at just the right angle, and that angle happens to be with light shining on it, it's gotta be the backlight.

Shouldn't be too hard to replace it either. Usually they're just in there with small ribbon cables and plugs.

My camera doesn't have the viewfinder. But thank you for giving your trying.

Alright thanks. I'll check it out now.
