    Question Best camera for me?

I want to get more serious in photography. I really like it a lot, and I photoshop a lot (Photomanipulation), but It won't be my job besides selling a few pictures here and there. I will probably be photographing a lot of things, but it will mostly be horses and equine sports(high speed). My price limit is $800, can be used. However, I really only want to spend $400-500, if I could get away with it. I am also into videography quite a bit and I like to make a whole bunch of videos, but I won't be so serious about it like photography. I know these are CAMERAS and not VIDEO CAMERAS, so I'm not expecting a lot.

So I really wanted a canon rebel t2i. I like the video on it a lot, too. Do you think I should just get the rebel t2i? I will and can save up for it if it's really worth it.

Now I'm thinking I might like a really nice point and shoot camera, but I have always wanted to get a DSLR.

What cameras do you think would work for me? I just don't want to be disappointed with my purchase because I have high expectations and I really don't know that much about DSLR cameras.

Thank you. ANY suggestions are awesome.

From reading your post, sounds like you're not sure yet which way to go.. point and shoot vs dslr.
I would suspect that you might limit yourself with a point and shoot camera and would lean towards a dslr.
As for the Canon rebel t2i you might want to compare it to a Nikon d90.
As always, I suggest that you visit a good camera store where you can touch, feel and experiment with some cameras and narrow your choice down somewhat.
Then come back here for plenty good advice.

Well I've been to the store, but they only have like 4 DSLR cameras sitting out to where you can handle them, and half of them have dead batteries when I want to try them. I like the way that the Canon Rebel felt in my hands and it was pretty easy, but Like I said, I might want something cheaper.

    Re: Best camera for me?

A DSLR is for people who want to CONTROL the exposure, control the results. If you want to just point and shoot, get, wouldn't ya know it, a point and shoot.

If you get a DSLR and all you do is use automatic, your results won't be really great.

Some other ones worth considering are the Sony Alpha NEX 3, the SLT A33, Nikon D90, and thats about it with video. Other great options without video are a used Canon 40D, 50D, or a used Sony A700,

Sounds like you need to find a better camera store.
High expectations and a limited budget don't go well together. Think this through carefully and try to perceive where you ultimately want to be with photography down the road.

yes, G12! Don't buy DSLR because the ones you can afford are not that great. Don't believe that all DSLR cameras are great with cheap kit lenses....cheap kit lenses can be really bad. Get the G12!

The Nikon P7000 is as good if not better than the G12, and less money.

    Hi,
I think Canon PowerShot SX30 IS is a cool camera.
You can check out reviews of different cameras from realviewz.com, they have got pretty detailed reviews.

I’ve had Canon EOS 7D digital SLR a few weeks now, and I must say it is pretty fantastic! It’s fast, clear, and very rugged. Its 18.0 megapixel Canon-developed CMOS sensor captures superb image quality with low noise and natural colour . I would suggest this for you

    New Here - Please Help

I'm new here so I cant start a new Thread.

Can anyone help me with the Video capability differences between these 2 cameras.

    Panasonic DMC-TS3
    Panasonic HM-TA20

They are both all weather - one is a camera with Video capabilities and one is a point & shoot video camera.

They both show full HD 1920 x 1080

    Thanks for any help.

I would go for a simple Canon camera with manual control of shutter and aperture settings..

Probably a manual camera with control over shutter and aperture would be better than
    a polaroid..
