Best 5MP compact around

The two compact cameras that have caught my eye are the Canon S500 and the SONY DSC-T1. Which is the better camera, and which has better picture quality?

I just went through this earlier this week. But I thought the S500 was too slow. My dilemma was choosing between the Nikon 5200 and the Sony DSC-W1/P-100. I bought the 5200 and it sucked. I returnd it for the Sony DSC-P100 and I wouldn't look back on my choice for a 5MP compact. It works beautifully and it's so freakin' fast! Plus, it's small.
