    advice: memory tank (or similar)
...So I'm thinking of getting a memory-tank type jimmy, b/c I'm going on a trip in the early summer, and, this time, may succeed in convincing my s.o. not to bring her computer along.

I don't need something that I can view the pictures on - just something to store them on, that doesn't require a computer to transfer the pictures onto.

I'm considering getting an MP3 player that can store photos (directly off a USB device) - might as well begin to come out of the stone age with my music collection (I still use actual CD's, that you put into a CD player - remember those?).

    Any suggestions?

    Thanks!

Yea, I know about the Photo iPod. But: (1) iPods in general seem to be a little overpriced for what they are; (2) as an MP3 player (of course, I'd be buying it mainly as a photo storage device, but still...), people I know seem to think it doesn't have the best user interface; (3) the list of cameras supported by the camera connector doesn't list the Digital Rebel (it may nevertheless support it - in fact, it probably does - but it'd be nice to know ahead of time).

    Thanks,

There's a belkin card reader dock for another $70.

If I were to get one, I would want one that reads from CF rather than from the camera. Go to fatwallet.pricegrabber.com and search Vosonic, Archos & FlashTrax (Smartdisk). Oh and fatwallet is wrong - the $50 rebate on the FlashTrax is good until 5/31.

    Good luck!

It's actually the FlashTrax I mentioned above. They're made by InnoPlus and marketed by InnoPlus as the Phototainer and by Smartdisk as the FlashTrax.
