The XTi at Staples

I went to Staples today to check out the Digital Rebel XTi. They only had the XT on display so I asked when they were getting the XTi in stock. The salesperson told me they had just received it, and I asked when they'd be getting a display camera set up. He told me not until they sold all of their XT's. I asked to see one of the XTi's and he said they couldn't do that. Now how the heck are they planning to sell them? I can't imagine someone would spend $900 on a camera without handling it first, unless they'd already handled it somewhere else. I just can't see how they will sell their XT's--don't you think most people looking at cameras in that price range will go for the XTi vs. XT?

I'm sure someone at a real camera store will be happy to show you the camera. Sounds like Staples plans to only sell cameras to idiots. I would take my money elsewhere.

come to Best Buy in Portsmouth, NH. I'll help you out with anything you need. lol. But seriously, don't buy from them if they can't be receiving enough to help you out. and as far as the xt vs. xti, sometimes you have the people who dont want to spend that extra 100 and just go with the xt. Little do they know what they are missing (automatic dust deletion!!!)

I work at Office Depot and we just received the XTi last week. We didn't have to sell our XT's, Canon simply bought them back from us. Thats what happens when we can't sell something and we need room on our shelves. The same thing happened to the Kodak Z650. Kodak bought back the supply we had (1) and it gave us room for more cameras. I am a technology associate at my store, and I know if someone came in wanting to look at a camera and we had it, just not on the shelf, I would be more than happy to do that for the customer. Take your money elsewhere. If we had to sell the XT's at our store to display the XTi, the XTi would be obsolete. DSLR's don't sell well in or store for whatever reason, probably because we only have one.

Maybe it was just a bad Staples. I live in the sticks and I'm sure they don't sell a lot of SLR's. I am guessing most people who want one go to a different store like Best Buy or a camera shop. Oh well, didn't have the $900 that day anyhow. LOL
