10D Err 99 Issue
Hi All...
I am hoping someone out there has some info for me.
I'm shooting with a 10D and have had no problems with it for about 1.5-2 years now. I guess it was time for something to go wrong.
I have the ERR 99 message. I've had it before, but a quick on/off fixed it. Now, it won't go away. I've:
Taken the battery out and replaced (new and old)
Switched flash cards
put on new lens (canon Ls)
used the 550EX flash and the built in flash
shot without a lens on at all
nothing has worked.
Is there anything else I can do and if not where is a reliable, affordable, place in So.Cal. to take it in?
Thanks!
PS I posted before I searched and am going to do that now. :)

Re: 10D Err 99 Issue
Have you tried resetting the camera defaults back to original settings. Also I think I remember reading about the numbering system, when it gets to 9999 count it does this sort of thing too.
Maybe the contact of the lens to camera is a little dirty, might need a clean, seeing you take lots of images with it.
Hope that helps you out.

Re: 10D Err 99 Issue
I think the best thing to do is to call Canon and ask them. I have a flash that's broke which I need to call them about today too.
The last time I had a repair done on a camera cost $300 and all they replaced was a fractured piece of plastic on a D30. I wouldn't expect anything much less than that if there is in fact a hardware failure. If you're lucky, it's something really simple where no parts have to be replaced. Given them a call and see what they tell you. I've had other work done with them (replace shutter assembly on EOS-3 and aperture problems on a lens) and they are professionals.

I had this problem as well, showed itself the day of a wedding shoot of all times. Then it spontaneously went away the next day when I tried to fix it. Strange isn't it?
