    What Lenses do I need?
So my awesome husband got me a T1i for valentines day-and its probably also my birthday and mothers day present too :P And it comes with the kit lens and I was just wondering what other lenses I might need. I am brand new to DSLRs but have taken a ton of pictures with my a640. I will mostly be doing pictures/portraits of my son and family members, but also like to take pictures of nature and landscapes when we drive places-we travel a little bit. We also go to the beach quite frequently and take pictures there too. So what lenses would you recommend? On a budget!

Congratulations on your new camera! Great choice!

I would consider the 50mm/f1.8 at $99. It's one of Canon's best and least expensive lenses.

Check out this thread to see what this lens is capable of!

As you can see, it's a very popular lens around here - and with many serious photographers.

I'll second Liz for the "Nifty Fifty." It's a nice little lens, and f1.8 comes in handy in bad light.

For a budget lens, also recommend the EF-S 55mm-250mm IS. It usually runs about $250. It's consumer grade, but a nice lens all the same. If you have the standard kit lens (18-55 is), this then covers the rest of the telephoto and gives you pretty good reach.
