Congratulations on your new camera! Great choice!
I would consider the 50mm/f1.8 at $99. It's one of Canon's best and least expensive lenses.

I'll second Liz for the "Nifty Fifty." It's a nice little lens, and f1.8 comes in handy in bad light.
For a budget lens, also recommend the EF-S 55mm-250mm IS. It usually runs about $250. It's consumer grade, but a nice lens all the same. If you have the standard kit lens (18-55 is), this then covers the rest of the telephoto and gives you pretty good reach.
