Rumor - Canon 5D Mark II
We'll see if it is truly real. Possibly a new release in the fall?

true. do you think Canon will come out with a replacement for any of their cameras? (They've done weird things like make slight adjustments to their cameras)

I heard rumors of an upgrade for the 5D this spring, right before PMA. I don't remember what the upgrades were, but if you do a search, I'm sure I posted what I had heard back then. I think a sealed body was one of the upgrades.

I would not be at all surprised to see Canon come out with some type of upgrade for at least one of their bodies. I'm hoping for a good replacement for the 30D myself.

A few months ago, I'd been told by someone working for Canon that a 7D was in the works. Just recently, he mentioned that there is a camera coming out, but it's no longer being called 7D -- but didn't mention what it WAS going to be called. So it looks like something's definitely coming out....

I'm still expecting a 40D. They introduced the 10-megapixel XTi and usually a faster, sturdier prosumer model follows. I would expect that camera before anything else. But I expected it at PMA and I was way off. So who knows. Based on Canon's previous product cycles, we might expect a new camera announcement in October.

this so-called 5D Mark II is a known Fake
the creator of the rendering posted an animation he recorded of how he made it in PS

I would love to see a 5dII soon, 14-16 mp with improved metering and AF, better sealing, and a high res 3" LCD

Thanks for clearing that up. However, I do wish to see a Canon replacement in the future...this may be a sign?

It would be nice to see what Canon's doing in the innovation department.

There hasn't been much news about cameras lately; it's sort of depressing. Hope to see something during the next few months.

I'm guessing that if the 5D is updated (and it is due to be going by Canon's usual timescales) that it'll have a dust reduction system, live view maybe? Beyond that I don't know. It's a cracking camera as it is so I am not to fussed to be honest.

A friend of mine who works in germany says the Photokina exhibition will be announcing the new 5D successor this coming year. He figures it'll be coming out at under TWO thousand - full frame with 16 mpx and a new dust reduction system not to mention a better noise compression system that Nikon is famous for. I think the only thing canon can do now is compete with prices, can you imagine them waging AF point wars ? Nikon's 51 vs canon's 102 :D lol
