    New Canon user question

I just switched from Olympus 4/3rd to the Canon 60D. I have three lenses at this point with two of them being 2.8 lenses. I was wondering, when shooting wide open is there a preferred metering method of the four methods? Thanks for any input.

I don't think the metering mode preference would be determined because you're "wide open," but rather by what you're shooting and the lighting conditions. The decision process there would be the same whether you were wide open in A, or locking fast action in S. To me the metering preference is based on the subject and not the lens or aperture.

I agree with wfooshee...in my shooting, I can't think of a time when aperture choice has impacted my metering selection. The subject itself and the lighting situation dictate which method should be used to correctly expose the subject.

Will, here is an article that does a pretty good job of explaining when to use which metering mode. Which is best? Spot, Center Weight, or Matrix metering? - Digital Photo Secrets
