Missing warranty card!!! New Canon 5D Mark III without warranty card?

I have received my Canon 5D Mark III today without warranty card. I bought it from "getitdigital" off from ebay. They claim that it is brand new USA product with 1 year USA warranty.

I have called Canon and they say that I need both the receipt AND the warranty card to have warranty for the camera.

I have called the store but they told me that they will email me the warranty card... It sounds strange....

Did any of you guys had the same experience with any cameras? what should I do? Should send it back and ask for a refund?

You can't email a warranty card, just a picture of a warranty card. Sounds sketchy.

One of the things a warranty card will say is "may not be reproduced or duplicated," and it probably would have the camera's S/N on it.

Return the camera and find another vendor. If they argue, you have a claim that it's NOT a valid US warranty since the card is missing. Improper description by seller always goes in favor of the buyer. But you should probably keep the camera packed and not use it in the meantime. (BTW, do you have a way to tell how many shutter trips it's had?)

Could be a simple thing, like a previous return and nobody noticed the missing card. Could be as devious as "gray market" and not a US dealer.

This is not to say that eBay is a bad place to go to get your equipment. I think everything I'm carrying right now except my SB-600 flash came from eBay!

They emailed me instructions how to register my camera....! They are funny. They think this is the warranty.

At least you got the camera you paid for, it could have been worse.

If possible, and if you want the warranty, yes - I would.
Well I wouldn't as I wouldn't have bought it from ebay in the first place.
With one exception, in the UK there is an official Canon Outlet run by digitalriver.
Refurbished camera from Canon, with a year's Canon warranty on them.

I think I got...although the camera listing stated 1 year Canon warranty.

They, (getitdigital) have a 9.95 rating on resellerratings.com that's as good as it gets so they are a reputable outfit. Is there a way to go to a Canon site and register your camera there ? I just bought a new dishwasher and that's how I had to register it to get the warranty !

Yikes if I spent that kind of money I would go to a Camera Store, good luck I hope you get your 12 months warranty.
