    XTI Package? Which is worth it?

    Package $1428
    Canon XTI body
    Canon EF-S 17-85mm IS USM / f4
    Canon 75-300mm F/4.0-5.6 III Lens

    or

    Package $1248
    Canon XTI body
    Canon EF 28-135mm f/3.5-5.6 IS USM Lens
    Canon EF 75-300mm F/4.0-5.6 III Lens

    I was just about to reply to your other thread and suggest a lens in the 70-300mm range, but it looks like you already figured that out.

    Let me start out by saying that I haven't used any of the lenses that you have listed. I think the 28-135mm lens is a perfect size to use as a general purpose, walk around lens, and I think you would be pretty happy with it. That being said, 28mm on a camera with the 1.6x crop factor, isn't very wide. If it were me, I think I would go with the 17-85mm package. It will give you a broader range with much less overlap.

    Thanks for the reply. What are your thoughts of the 75-300 lens?

    Overall, could I even do better with other combinations that is not even mentioned here and still be in the range of these prices?
