    Question Canon PowerShot SD400 or SD500 ???

I'm really in doubt between the two cameras related. I'm most concerned about the flash and how the image is formed in the cameras. I know that for the SD400 has a range of 11 feet while the SD500 16 feet. My question is: How much this really impact in the picture quality ? I have read some reviews about the cameras that tell that in the SD400 the space is too small to form the images, creating a lot of noise and is considerated a big problem for SD400 ! It's that true ??? And of course SD400 is 5 mega pixels in comparisson to SD500 that is 7, but I don't think that I need that much. I just want a really good camera for vacation and social ocasions. The price diference between them are $ 100. Is it worth ?????? I have heard that SD500 is the best 7 megapixels camera in market. Is that true ?? What iare the best 5 and 7 ultra compact cameras ??? Thanks very much!

I'd say that if you weren't limited to the ultra-compact segment, try some of the creative compacts that allow you to do things life control flash output and exposure control. Some even allow you to adjust individual color intesities and record the edited and original picture at the same time. I suggest looking at the A610 and A620 as reviewed at www.steves-digicams.com. I have the A620 and I've been really impressed with the speed of its operation, the ease of changing the settings, and the low noise in the pictures.
I suggest that anyone curious about slide film try Provia 100 or 100F. Scans so well!
