    Fisheye which one?

Hello all, new to the forums.

    You've probally heard this before....

I'm looking to get an inexpensive fisheye for play around with for my Canon 30D. I've seen alot of people suggest the 8mm peleng or the mc zenitar 16mm fisheye. Has anyone had any experience with these two? Which would be better?
Thanks in advance for your replys.

    Re: Fisheye which one?

    Welcome ot the Forum.

I have never used the Peleng, but have heard good things about it.

I do have the MC Zenitar and it is very nice. The 16mm isn't that wide when used on a 1.6x crop factor body, it does still retain some of the fisheye distortion. Not as much as if used on a FF or film body, but still very nice. Do a search of fisheye, or Zenitar on this site, and you will finde some other discussions and some sample images from this lens. For an inexpensive fisheye, the Zenitar is pretty good.

the peleng and the zenitar are also different type of lenses. the peleng is a circular fisheye, meaning on a full frame camera the image is in a circle with a black border around it. The zenitar is a full frame fisheye, meaning on a 35mm camera you won't have any borders. when put on a 1.6x, you will still have black corners/sides with the 8mm, but won't have a circle border.
