Maybe I jumped the gun and bought a camera body that was just a little too old for just a price just a little too good to pass up. After using the D30 for a couple of months with the Canon 50mm F1.8 lens and just recently with a Quantaray 70-300mm (It's cheap I know but a little bit of abberation is better than not getting the shot at all,) my biggest gripe is that the autofocus seems to be really hit or miss even in bright light some times. I've just started using manual focus for just about any picture I take except for outdoors with high contrast. My wife has recently started picking up the camera and taking pictures but she can't tell the differance between in focus and out of focus when looking through the viewfinder. Was the D30 known for poor autofocus across the board or are there certain lenses from the D30's era that will give better results? I've handled a few Rebel XTs as well as a few of the film Rebels and they don't seem to focus much better, do I have unusually high expectations?
