Auto-bracketing
Anyone use auto-bracketing on their camera? I keep meaning to play with this on my XSi.

Re: Auto-bracketing
I use exposure auto-bracketing (plus/minus 2.0) when setting up for an HDR. I wish it had the capability for more advanced bracketing. - TF

Re: Auto-bracketing
I don't know the full specs on bracketing with the XSi, but I do know that not only is HDR augmented by this, but any tricky conditions can be evaluated by bracketing and then comparing the histograms to get a good idea of Exposure compensation for those light conditions.
Several cameras now have programmable number of shots (up to 9 anyway) that can be bracketed.
There is white balance bracketing and DOF bracketing available on various models that has lots of uses with DOF being a variation of the Auto or Maximum DOF settings.
Higher end compact/evil/pNs have had Focus Bracketing for several years but many now use it as part of 'best shot' modes.
I primarily have used it until recently with WB bracketing, to evaluate lighting or for the occasional HDR work.

Re: Auto-bracketing
I have played with the exposure bracketing on my XSI, and used it a few times when working in a varying lighting situation and I didn't want to take the time to adjust exposure manually in a time sensitive situation. I would use it when shooting JPEG, continuous shooting where I didn't want to bog down the processor with saving RAW files. Of the three exposures, generally one was correct (when I estimated the necessary exposure bracket correctly). With the quicker processing ability of my 7D, I am just shooting RAW and not bracketing.

Re: Auto-bracketing
it's useful to me when i want to do an HDR, so yes I use it. However, lately, I've been getting (lazy) by on fake HDR. :)
