I predict that soon Blogging will be an indispensable tool in the world of digital photography.

I stumbled across what appears to be a nice little marriage that could lead to a bigger and brighter world. Food will taste better, and wilted flowers will bloom.

From the above link I created my account with Picasa and downloaded the Hello application. Hello by itself is a nice program that enables finding, managing, and viewing of your photos. Hello works over a peer-to-peer connection. You add a friend who already uses Hello by typing in the user name, which prompts an approval request on that person's screen with your user name and e-mail address. If the recipient approves, the name is then listed as a friend. For non-Hello users, you send e-mail invitations to use Hello. The app doesn't let you add an individual to your Friends list without the person's approval. Invitees see your user name and e-mail address, and in the same manner as an IM client, Hello shows you who's online and who's not.

I had discovered Hello a few months ago, and although I thought the program was slick I lost interest. Now I am back with new enthusiasm. The parent company of the Hello application, Picasa looks to have struck a deal with www.google.com.

I'm not sure how I'm going to use this solution, however the wheels are turning in my head, and I can imagine that there are bigger and better things to come from this marriage.

There has been a lot of hype about Google's upcoming free email service that will provide 1 gig of free storage for each email account.

I wouldn't be surprised if 30 gigs of free storage were offered as a part of some slick marketing campaign for Google. Perhaps competitors will start offering similar solutions. However, it looks like Google is one step ahead of the competition. Regardless of the outcome this is one area where we the consumers will benefit.

Blogging images could re-shape how images are sold.
Blogging of images will certainly have an impact on news reporting.
Blogging could add a new level of advertising that is based on what images people are looking at.

In the year 2000 the online rage revolved around the distribution of .mp3’s and now look at http://www.apple.com/itunes/. Similarly Blogging could be to photography what .mp3’s have been to music and how it’s consumed.
