Four New Canon PIXMA Photo All-In-One Printers - Press Release

Canon Launches Four New PIXMA Photo All-In-One Printers That Provide Customers with Variety of Choices and Price Points

Four New Photo All-In-One Printers Offer Flexibility of Features, High Photo Quality Plus New Canon ChromaLife100 System and Canon's Pioneering FINE Print Head Technology

Canon's PIXMA Photo All-In-One line offer something for just about everyone interested in multi-function machines that print high-quality photos. Along with being able to print, copy and scan a variety of documents and images, the latest PIXMA Photo All-In-One printers share the continued Canon commitment to photo quality including such technological innovations as the new Canon ChromaLife100 System for long lasting photos and Canon's pioneering Full-photolithography Inkjet Nozzle Engineering (FINE) print head system for impressive speed and photo quality.

The latest Canon PIXMA models include the Canon PIXMA MP800 Photo All-In-One, Canon PIXMA MP500 Photo All-In-One, Canon PIXMA MP450 Photo All-In-One and Canon PIXMA MP170 Photo All-In-One.

"Along with being able to perform a variety of important tasks well including printing, copying and scanning documents and photos, we wanted every PIXMA Photo All-In-One printer to be able to do one essential thing - print great photos - and these latest four additions to the line are no exception," said Yukiaki Hashimoto, senior vice president and general manager of the consumer imaging group at Canon U.S.A., Inc., a subsidiary of Canon Inc. "Our new Photo All-In-One's provide great options for the home office that can be shared with the entire family - kids included and take full advantage of the technological advances Canon has pioneered including the new Canon ChromaLife100 system that can help to better preserve photos and the Canon FINE print head system which Canon launched in 1999. With the Canon FINE print head system, customers can get borderless photo lab quality prints amazingly quickly."

    The New ChromaLife100 System

All four new Canon PIXMA photo all-in-one printers use Canon's breakthrough ChromaLife100 system, which produces prints on select genuine Canon photo papers that resist fading for up to 100 years when stored in an archival quality photo album(1). The 100-year-lifespan rivals that of many traditional film based photos, long considered by consumers to be the benchmark for image permanence.

Unlike some competitors that only test for ozone degradation, Canon has tested the ChromaLife100 system against three types of gases to simulate realistic conditions - ozone, nitrogen oxide and sulfur oxide. Prints produced on Canon Photo Paper Pro with the other elements of the ChromaLife100 system had an up to ten-year gas fastness(1) when exposed to open air. ChromaLife100 prints, when created on Canon Photo Paper Pro or Photo Paper Plus Glossy, had up to 30-yearlight fastness(1) when displayed under glass.

Advanced Print Head Technology - A Canon Innovation

Launched globally by Canon in 1999, the Canon Full-photolithography Inkjet Nozzle Engineering (FINE) advanced print head technology is one of the keys to the impressive speed and high photo quality in PIXMA photo all-in-one printers. FINE uses a ground-breaking high-performance multi-nozzle print head with up to 6,144 nozzles that ejects consistent and microscopic ink droplets. The results are high-resolution photos with greater detail and clarity in less time.

"Canon, long a leader in inkjet printing, was the first manufacturer with a fully-integrated photolithographic inkjet print head, and the first to offer products with the many benefits that this print head technology provides," said Charles LeCompte, president of Lyra Research, a market research firm.

Specifications subject to change without notice.

    (1) Results based on accelerated testing by Canon under controlled temperature, humidity, and gas conditions. For the 100-year figure, Canon simulated storage in an album with plastic sleeves. For the 30-year lightfastness figure, Canon simulated display of a photo in a glass frame in an indoor location without direct sunlight or other high intensity light. The 10-year gasfastness figure is based on a testing ratio of gases typical to indoor air composition (O3: NOx:SOx--3:19:1) with 100 times concentration in order to accelerate color fading. Canon cannot guarantee the longevity of prints; results may vary depending on printed image, drying time, display/storage conditions and environmental factors. See WWW.USA.CANON.COM/CHROMALIFE100 for additional details.

    (2) Resolution may vary based on printer driver setting. Color ink droplets can be placed with a horizontal pitch of 1/9600 inch at minimum.

    (3) Photo print speeds are based on the default mode driver setting using Canon Photo Paper Plus Glossy paper. Print speeds will vary depending on system configuration, interface, software, document complexity, print mode, types of paper used and page coverage.

    (5) Bluetooth version 1.2 with optional Canon Bluetooth unit BU-20. Bluetooth operation depends on the devices and software versions used. Operating distance is approximately 10 meters but may vary due to obstacles, radio signals, locations where radio interference occurs, magnetic fields, device sensitivity and/or antenna performance

    (6) JPEG files 3MB or smaller only. Requires mobile phone with IrDA port and support for IrMC version 1.1 protocol, with phone positioned no more than 7.9 inches from printer.

    (7) Pricing subject to change at any time. Actual prices are determined by individual dealers and may vary.

Re: Four New Canon PIXMA Photo All-In-One Printers - Press Release

Oh gosh I just saw this!!! I just bought the MP760 this past Thursday. It's still in the box, unopened. I'd love to return mine and get the new one ... any idea when, where, etc. it will be available? How long before I can actually buy one? How does that work, the timing between the announcement and the actual availability?

Re: Four New Canon PIXMA Photo All-In-One Printers - Press Release

I think the rest of the announcements said the stuff would be available in September. Anything announced this time of year is usually available for the Holidays. So I would expect they'll be in stores by te end of October, at the latest.
