Energizer Portable Power Packs - Press Release

Energizer Launches New Portable Battery-Driven Power Packs for Cell Phones, Portable Games And iPods; Energi To Go with Patented Technology To Be Mass Distributed This Fall

ST. LOUIS--(BUSINESS WIRE)--June 15, 2006--Energizer, Inc. (NYSE: ENR), a global leader in the dynamic business of providing portable power, announced today the launch of Energizer (R) Energi To Go(TM), portable battery-driven devices that supply power to the majority of today's wireless phones, portable gaming devices and the Apple iPod(R). Energizer Energi To Go will be available at retail nationwide in September.

The Energizer Energi To Go product line includes a two-battery Energizer Energi To Go Instant Cell Phone Charger and a four-battery Energizer Energi To Go Power Pack for audio and gaming devices.

Energizer Energi To Go Instant Cell Phone Charger is the only cell phone charger that combines the power of Energizer(R) e2(R) Lithium AA batteries with a patented intelligent control chip that maximizes power transfer from the charger to the phone. "Managing power transfer from the Energizer Energi To Go charger to the cell phone provides maximum efficiency and consistent power performance in today's popular cell phones. Our intelligent control optimizes battery performance by supplying high power to the phone when needed and reduced power when demands are lower," said Tony Mazzola, Energizer Product Technical Support Manager.

The power demands on a cell phone have increased greatly as phones have evolved in how they are used. Many cell phones now are Web-enabled as well as able to send and receive email, take pictures, play music and videos, and serve as personal organizers. According to market research group Roper ASW, 20 percent of consumers lose cell phone power at least once a week.

"More and more consumers are cutting the cord. They are on the run and don't have time to wait at a wall outlet for their phone batteries to charge," said Jeff Ziminski, Energizer Vice President of Marketing. "We expect Energizer Energi To Go to fill a consumer need as an essential and economical way to guarantee automatic power to talk; power to charge, anywhere, anytime."

Energizer Energi To Go Instant Cell Phone Charger powered with Energizer e2 Lithium AA batteries provides immediate power to operate a cell phone. A call can be placed within 30 seconds of activating Energizer Energi To Go on some cell phones with a completely discharged battery. Wireless phone models with robust multimedia applications may require several minutes to activate.

The new cell phone chargers can power 80 percent of the cell phone brands available in the United States. (There were 170 million mobile phones in use in the U.S. last year.) Phone tip connectors are available to fit approximately 100 phone models across top manufacturers, and include most Nokia, Motorola, Sprint, and Samsung cellular phones and mini USB devices, including Razr, Slvr and the Blackberry.

The MSRP for Energizer Energi To Go Cell Phone Charger is $19.99, and includes the reusable charger, the phone tip connector and two Energizer e2 Lithium AA batteries.

Energizer Energi To Go Power Pack provides immediate power from four Energizer e2 Lithium AA batteries. The Energizer Energi To Go Audio Power Pack powers the Apple iPod(R), Apple Nano(R) and Apple Mini(R). The Energi To Go Gaming Power Pack powers handheld gaming systems including PSP(TM) (PlayStation(R) Portable), Game Boy(R) Advance(R) and Nintendo(R) DS(R).

"The road warrior and hardcore gamer will consider Energizer Energi To Go Power Packs vital in guaranteeing uninterrupted portable power for their on-the-move lifestyles," Ziminski said.

Both four-battery power packs will retail for $29.99 each, and will include the reusable charger, a smart tip and four Energizer e2 Lithium AA batteries.

Energizer Energi To Go products will be available at mass food and drug retailers nationwide on September 1 through mass market retailers. Energizer's national marketing campaign will debut Labor Day weekend and includes a combination of major media television, print and online advertising, in-store merchandising, product sampling, event marketing and consumer bounceback couponing for Energizer e2 Lithium batteries.

For maximum performance, Energizer recommends powering Energizer Energi To Go power packs with Energizer e2 Lithium batteries. Energizer e2 Lithium is the world's longest lasting AA battery in high tech devices.

Energizer markets and distributes Energi To Go. St. Louis-based Energizer Holdings, Inc. (NYSE: ENR) is one of the world's largest manufacturers and distributors of alkaline and lithium primary batteries, specialty and rechargeable batteries, and flashlights. Energizer is a global leader in the dynamic business of providing portable power. A product website, www.EnergiToGo.com, will be available August 28, 2006.

They dont say anything about digital cameras, but this looks like something that would be great to have for compact digital cameras that use proprietary rechargeable batteries.
