    Boycott spammers

Lets all make an effort to run the spammers off of this site.
I propose that we should keep a list of any sights that drop spam on PR and then each agree that we will never buy from, nor visit their sites due to their shady advertising techniques. I also plan to let everyone (ok not really everyone)I know what sites to avoid.

I'm really getting sick of this, but it must work as they continue to put the effort in. There has been quite a bit of spam lately, that actually appears to be specifically written for the thread it is in, not something dropped by a bot. So let's stop it from working.

Anyone else thinks this makes sense??

    Re: Boycott spammers

I do.....it really wastes a lot of my time to open a thread because it appears to have a new post, only to find somebody trying to get me to visit some site.

    Re: Boycott spammers

There is one poster on here in particualr that every post is spam, specifically writen for the thread that is in. I have "red triangled" at least half of their posts, yet they are still on the site. Is there any ban control being done by the admins? Then again even if there is, they can just create a new account, which is why I will never ever ever visit rebation and encourage others not to do so.

I can only speak for the "Camera Dealer Feedback Forum" but I can say that spam usually is zapped by Paul, John, or myself fairly quickly. Often it gets deleted before you even get a chance to see it. Just so you know we are keeping an eye on it, Jeff

Can you tell me who it is? Give me an account name or something I can use to search them. You wouldn't believe how much manual effort is put into spam control here. But I don't always notice the patterns. If there's a problem poster who keeps registering new accounts, I may be able to ban them or make it a waste of their time to keep posting.

Sorry, John...don't remember name. Reported several times but didn't know that the name would be helpful.

    Re: Boycott spammers

John I sent you a PM with the name.

Grandpaw, I know you guys do often times catch, I've seen spam in posts, gone back an hour later and it's gone. Thanks for what you guys do do in regards to spam control (and everything else).
The problem is these urchins keep coming back and creating new accounts, they seem quite relentless, which makes me wonder if spamming forums actually works. I find it hard to beleive that it does, but why else would they keep doing it?
