Best place to buy a Nikon D70?
I Have made up my mind and now I just need help from you to point me in the right direction.

    Nikon D70 body only.

The lowest price I have been able to find is from Expess Cameras for $674. Does anyone have any advice, experience with this retailer?

    http://www.expresscameras.com/prodet...102119&start=1

I know it sounds like it is too good to be true.

Do I really have to pay $929 from my neighborhood store?

    Thanks,

If it's too good to be true, it probably is. Best case scenario is that it will be a non-US (grey market) camera and you might not get instructions (in English, at least) software, accessories or any warranty with it. Digital cameras sometimes have firmware updates (the software that runs the camera) which improve the camera - if you don't have a US serial number you might not be able to get any of this.

You may have found some of the horror stories and urban legends about places pulling the "bait and switch" or just plain fraud on customers. I'd strongly recommend one of the more-established US authorized dealers. Also, go to the "shop" link at the top of this page - if you buy thru that link the site will get a small referral fee and it doesn't cost you anything extra.

I paid $1000 last summer for mine at a local shop, body only. I was glad I did. NO PROBLEMS that way!
