It had been a while since I posted here last...let's try this.

I start early on Friday what with 2 jobs and all so I headed over to the Lincoln Memorial to catch the Sunrise but I was a bit early, lo and behold it was good. Then while I was putzing around inside the monument something wonderful started happening to the sky.

After seeing another amazing sunrise (is there any place better in the world to see a sunrise than from the steps of the Lincoln Memorial?) I put the camera away and headed over to work.

I was almost there when I saw the rays of the rising sun in just the perfect alignment with a steam vent so I just had to get one final shot.

Best of all I still made it to work on time.

MB1 - I like the Lincoln statue idea with the sign, though the pic is somewhat soft (also a little puzzled about the Quiet Please stuff.. what is this, an outdoor library?).

The bottom pic of the bike is a neat idea, but it's also a letdown. It's just a pedestrian bicycle. If you could do this effect with a Harley or something, now that might really be dramatic enough to make a statement. It also looks soft, btw.., I guess you didn't have a tripod handy. Nice colors.

Wow, you had a great morning. All 4 shots are very strong. The softness of the light coming through the steam adds to the dreamy feel. That sunrise is top notch with the reflecting pool doing its job so well. The only thing I would do to any of them would be to spot out that small greenish light in front of the Lincoln Memorial.

Yes, it was a goood morning.

The reflecting pool is drained for cleaning so there was just a puddle in the bottom. I had to hustle around to get the image of the sun in the water lined up. That is my bike in the steam vent, I had to jump over a security barrier with the bike to get things lined up just right.

A security officer stopped by to see what I was doing (it was a State Department building) but he was cool.
