Here is yet another pic taken at Mystic. There was a very small cabin on the upper deck of the Ship "Captain Morgan." It obviously belonged to a woman. I saw this hat & loved the classic look of it. What do you folks think?

My eye follows the checkered ribbon towards it, which distracts me from the actual hat. Cropping it would be tough, but I'd recommend another angle. Nice shot though and beautiful subject, Jared ARP 03-17-2005, 11:30 PM Not just a hat........ a lady hat :) Nice image of the hat, but I don't like the vertical blinds in the bg :( AR gahspidy 03-17-2005, 11:48 PM I like the subject and it looks very good as it is. nice lighting and focus. But I think it would be impossible to remove this hat from its surroundings by changing your position, so i would suggest try including more of its environment as opposed to trying to only shoot the hat. Good eye for an interesting image. stew 03-18-2005, 07:27 AM Nina, I like it! I think it has a very romantic quality and is very pretty subject. I don't find the background items overly distracting personally. I think you've used some PS to try and focus the eye to the hat, and it's fairly effective. Perhaps to furhter visually isolate the hat itself, you could apply gaussian blur to the background to further focus the eye only on the subject and not allow the rest to detract. Just a thought! For example, what is the 2nd checkered ribbon tail hanging over? My other comment is that the image seems a little dark. If you are running PS or something, it may be interesting to play with this a little to bring out the colors more. There was also a tiny bunk on the right of it. I attempted to get the entire surroundings but when I did, there was no one subject and the hat got lost. The cabin was just too small and getting a shot was really awkward. This was the best shot out of about 5. |
