What trip to Nashville is complete without a trip to Tootsies? It is like a pilgrimage for anyone that is familiar with country music. I was with the family and didn't have the time to spend photographing that I would have liked, but I did grab a couple of shots as a document to having been there and even went around to the alley in back and went in the back door like so many legends did through the years as they left the Ryman or just dashed in between sets.
Wow! Nashville......always wanted to go there. Tootsies huh? It's new to me, but it must be nostalgic to the country music crowd.
One of my dreams is to go to the Grand Ole Opry! Have you been there? THAT would be one of my top 10 things I'd like to do before I die.
This is a nice photo! Looks like your Nikon Family thread is still going - like the energizer bunny.

A lot of the greats would hangout at Tootsies before after and even in Hank William's case during the Grand Old Opera back when it was still at the Ryman just accross the alley behind Tootsies. The Opera was going to be in the Ryman Saturday night when we were there but we had all ready made plans to go to the Bluebird Cafe where a friend of my daughters was playing that night. He joined us after the show for a little birthday celebration at my daughter's that night. It was my birthday and also my daughters husband had had a birthday earlier in the week and my son's birthday is Wed. So we got togather in Nashville for a little party. Since my daughter is expecting in May we thought that we would go to her for our annual birthday celebration this year.
Chunk I can't beleive you still remember that foot shot from so long ago.
Below is a picture of another must stop for me. Ernest Tubbs Record Shop just across Lower Broad from Tootsies.

I was just telling a friend about the Bluebird yesterday. A night there can be worth the trip to Nashville - I have a great live CD recorded there with Steve Earle, Guy Clarke and Townes Van Zandt, and saw three other people (don't remember the names) several years ago when I was there.
Did you make it to Robert's too? :) That's quite an accomplishment to have a gig at the Bluebird. And a happy belated birthday!

It was standing room only at the Bluebird Saturday night. Great place to go and hear some very good talent cheap. My son-in-law has played their open mic nights and was invited back so I guess that is a step in the right direction. Did kind of a walk by at Robert's.
