I'm looking for a decent video camera with max price or around £250 which has the following specs:

Records at 24fps or faster
Records videos with resolution of 1024 x 768 or more
Has more than 2x optical zoom
Records decent sound with Videos
and has quite a long recording time. (If its continueous recording and uses SD car, that would be perfect)

Could someone advise me on a camera with those sort of specs for that kinda of price. The resolution, the sound and the FPS are very important.

Help is much appriechiated.

Your currency converts to about $460 US. I would suggest one of the Mini-DV offerings from either Sony, JVC, Canon or Panasonic. Video resolution is typically sub 1 megapixel, and there isn't anything else that will record the quality you want, for any length of time. You will typically get 60 minutes of time on the tape. If you will be adding an external microphone, almost, if not all the JVC cameras will be out of luck because there is no exteral mic input. I have been very happy with the different Sony models that we use in my media lab at school.

Good luck with our search.

HI THERE.

if u can, get yourself a panasonic NV-GS120 3ccd mini dv camcorder

http://www.panasonic.co.uk/camcorders/index.htm

for the same price as a sony or cannon single ccd camcorder, u can have one of these brilliant 3ccd camcorders. its probably a bit more than u want to spend, but its absolutely worth the money, and canon and sony have no camcorder in this price range that compares to this camera, and i have one myself, as well as having the NV-GS400 model, and i have the new canon XL-2 dv camera as well (im a pro videographer)

this NV-GS120 (formerly the NV-GS70) was the camcorder of the year in 2003 / 04 which speaks for itself.

have a look ans check it out.....GLEN
