I think this is fine, but would have been really nice with a bit of light or so in the birds eye or face some. I think i would crop off some of the image from the right to eliminate the claw and maybe a bit off the top to keep the ratio. Good shot.

This is a good shot. I agree with cropping out his claw. His form against the background makes it a great nature shot that I'd expect to see in National Geographic.
Perhaps if you have it just a smidge of a bump in the midtone contrast, it would be even more dynamic.
