Finally got a new comp and I'm having a lot of fun! I have created 4 new images. This is one I am particularly excited about. If you are familiar with the 7 major chakras, I hope you will enjoy this image. If not, the chakras are "focused energetic life forces." They are commonly studied in massage, meditation, martial arts, etc. Each one is represented by a different color. The chakra points are represented by the different colored stars. The standing figure represents the mentor, or what the kneeling person aspires to be. The blue color of the "mentor" represents the reaching of a higher spiritual plane, and the green of the "apprentice" represents growth. The color of the butterfly that greets the apprentice is blue to represent what she aspires to be. The tree in the background is respresentational of the tree of life, another basic teaching of mysticism. Pictures were taken with a polaroid SX-70 camera and combined/colors altered on the comp. The "stars" were added and are the only non-photographic elements in the piece. I look forward to hearing from you! Enjoy :-)
Thank you,
Mel
P.S. I'm liking this new forum :-)

and thanks for the descriptive text, as I'm not the creative thinker to realize what I was looking at. Very well done...you make really good use of that SX-70. :-)

I know you are excited about this one but I think I like some of your other work because of the depth(visually) and textures it conveyed...I think this lacks a smidge of perspective...I think with the explanation given it definitely is very good representation---but something about it doesn't hit me as much as some of your past work...

The standing figure and squatting figures are good as far as pose and technique(manipulation)

but I'd like to see a different take if you get around to it...just my 2 cents...

You ahve a wonderfully adventureous and creative spirit---congrats on your new toy :)
