I like the vapor trails. I think you need a blue sky to really make it a keeper, but you can't always get that. :)

The blue sky is sort of a plus and minus at the same time. I don’t usually like the lighting of direct sunlight and clear skies. On the F-15 I like how the aircraft kind of blends into the sky as it was designed to do. Blue skies can be very nice too but I certainly wouldn’t say that you need a clear blue sky to make an airplane picture a keeper. On this shot I like the way the cloudy background makes the red color really stand out. I also like very much how the gray sky makes the red color and the white smoke stand out. Maybe it’s just me. Of course blue skies can be very nice also.

I like all of these better - especially the second one. We've been seeing some of the same performers. I posted a pick of the wing-walker plane doing a differnent trick below, as well as some F14 shots of my own.

I'd just like to say that I love the second picture you attached in your second post on this thread. It's a really good composition and I love the natural simplicity of the colours; it makes it a very striking image.

To be honest, the other's don't do a lot for me. I went to a lot of airshows and stuff when I was younger, and these photos look like ones from the programme. Not a bad thing by any means, but nothing that makes me look at the photo more than once and especially nothing that makes fills me with the urge to comment on composition etc. Perhaps that's just me; I don't wish for my comments to sound harsh either!

For some reason though I found the colours of Lava Lamp's afterburning Tomcat lighting my fire, so to speak and that does strike me as a kind of programme-ish image. Although in that case it's not often I see aircraft afterburning...

i would agree with Hindey on this one, the second would be my favourite. the composition is great, with the plane turning towards the camera adding to the pic. the red works really well against the dark grey of the sky.

i personally prefer the grey skies myself.......................

I love the Beech. I learned to fly multi-engines on one almost exactly like it. The smoke coming from the engines looks scary, though.

GregI agree. The water condensing in the low pressure areas is terrific.

That second shot with the twin engine plane is very cool - looks like the sun might be a little stronger which works well, especially the red. The last shot is really great too - but I wonder if maybe bumping the contrast up a little would help.
