A question - I have a Sony TRV350 but no firewire card in my computer. Can I use the usb port to send the video to my computer for editing and DVD burning?
Many thanks in advance for any help and advice.
Time for the firewire card. Go out and look for an ADS Pyro basic card. The model number is API-310. It has the firewire card that you need along with the the 6 pin to 4 pin firewire cable. The USB cable is to transfer still pictures and to use the camera as a webcam.

thanks for the great information. I'll be getting Pinnacle's AV/DV package soon and it includes a firewire card. In the meanwhile, will the USB cable transfer video? And am I assuming correctly that it won't be as high a quality as working through the firewire?
Again, thanks.........
You will not be able to use the video, if is able to transfer, it won't be usable 30 fps

Is Anyone capturing video fro a Sony Camcorder to their computer? I am trying with Nero 6 and the video captures too slowly, like in frames or slower. I have upgraded to the latest versions of Nero, and am using high speed USB 2 (supposed to be faster than firewire) with Windows XP. I would sure like to talk to someone that has had success with this
Unless I haven't been paying attention, Sony is only supporting firewire transfer of full motion video. Sorry about that.
