I took this shot from the lookout tower ontop of Dover Castle, which next to the English channel, the closest point of land in Britain to france. Anyone like the view?

Hi Dirtygoat,
I hope you don't mind but I had a go at using Photoshop to change aspects of the photo. As it stands I find the composition rather colourless and flat. Perhaps taking the picture during a sunrise / sunset would bring out the colour as the location looks good (apart form the mast but that can always get taken out using PS).
I adjusted the levels slightly and applied a crop in order to change the perspective. I also tried increasing the saturation in order to bring out the greens of the trees and surrounding land.
What do you think?

Regards

Keith

Interesting, sunset or sunrise would of really added some dramatic lighting effects. I might of needes special permission to get in at those hours though. I already did some quick fix in photoshop, adding the warmer tone to it makes it look a little bit unnatural, its a good job though and does look a bit more like sunset or sunrise. Thanks for the critique.

I think it's really hard to take a good shot of a town like this, unless there's something particularly eye-catching in the frame. Towns in general are very cluttered, and I think they lead to confusing photos. I'd echo earlier comments, the town would like nicer in early morning light, or a good sunset. There'd also se less haze, so the colors would come out better.

However, I'd say the view is pretty amazing from up there. :-)
